Experience Whale Watching on the Gold Coast
Is whale watching on your bucket list? Here’s how you can tick it off this spring 2021 on the Gold Coast
Whale watching season has arrived on the Gold Coast so now’s the time to head over if you’re looking to witness these majestic marine mammals.
July to October marks the best months to see the humpback whales as they migrate on the famous “Humpback Highway” - just off the east coast of Queensland. And the Gold Coast is one of the best destinations to catch them on their migration.
You’ve got two ways to see the whales this spring, and it simply depends on your budget. Gold coast whale watching tours such as Whales in Paradise and Spirit of Gold Coast offer guaranteed up-close whale sightings, complete with onboard commentary, food and drinks, and a free return trip should you experience a rare “off day” (no whale sightings).
Luckily for those on a budget, there are also cost-free options for seeing the whales, which simply involves heading to one of the Gold Coast’s whale watching vantage points with a pair of trusty binoculars.
Where are these whale watching lookouts?
- Burleigh Hill/Burleigh Point
- Tumgun Lookout, Burleigh Heads
- Burleigh Head National Park Ocean Walk
These are just a few popular vantage points, and you’ll find them just moments away from our Burleigh Heads accommodation here at Coast Breakz. The good thing about these free whale watching locations on the Gold Coast is that you can throw down a picnic blanket and sunbathe with your binoculars at the ready.
Other locations include Point Danger, The Spit and SkyPoint Observation Deck (not free).
